The Great American Solar Eclipse
On Monday, Aug. 21, a total eclipse of the sun will be visible in the continental United States for the first time in almost 40 years. Since this eclipse will only be visible in the continental United States, it has been nicknamed the “All-American” Total Solar Eclipse. Nevada will be in the area of 95 percent totality. The Nevada Public Library will be hosting two events. The first is a Pre-Viewing Event on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m., and we will discuss how to view the eclipse safely. On Monday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m., we will be hosting a Viewing Event. We have received 200 solar viewing glasses from the 2017 Solar Eclipse project, which will help everyone present be able to view the eclipse safely. Both events are for all ages. You may come to either or both events to learn about viewing this amazing event. Please contact Linda at the library (515-382-2628) if you are planning to come to either event, so we can get an idea of how many people will participate.
