The Story County Fair officially starts in Nevada this Friday, July 21. Food stands will be open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m., featuring great food like homemade pie. Shows on Friday will be horse shows, starting at 2 and 3:30 that afternoon. Exhibit halls will open Saturday morning at 9. Saturday evening will feature the 4-H BBQ, sponsored by the Story County Co-ops and coronation of the Story County Fair Queen at 7 p.m. in the Dueland Pavilion. The fair runs through Wednesday, July 26, and a full schedule can be found at www.storycountyfair.com.
The Workspace at the Iowa State Memorial Union will host Paint Your Own Pottery Artist Series: O’Keeffe’s Ladder to the Moon on Friday, July 21, from 4-8 p.m. This is a drop in event, open to all ages if accompanied by an adult. In addition to ladder to the moon imagery, take inspiration from the teal hues of the sky and the mountainous horizon. This concept will look beautiful on any bisque, and honors O’Keeffe’s contributions to modern art. Pieces will be fired within a week. Studio fee is $4 for those with ISU; $5 for the public, plus the cost of the bisque you select.
Elvis Show at Talent Factory
This Saturday evening, Joseph Hall brings his Elvis Rock ‘N’ Remember show to Nevada’s Talent Factory. The show begins at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $20 and tickets at the door will be $25.

Bring your genealogy questions and problems to this help session and the volunteers will assist you with ideas and suggestions that may help you overcome the inevitable hurdles.
