Members of the Nevada Class of 2017 celebrated commencement on Sunday afternoon in the Nevada High School Fieldhouse. A crowd that overflowed into the balcony and the commons area was on hand to witness the completion of the 112 class members’ K-12 career.

Chairs were set up with the class in memory of two class members who are deceased: River Thompson and Caitlyn Opperman. The two were also mentioned in one of the graduation addresses given by Isabelle Kapustka.

Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Steve Gray, spoke to the graduates about concentrating not on yesterday and tomorrow, but on what they can do today.

Graduates celebrated at the end of the ceremony, with traditional spraying of silly string and walking out to this year’s class song, “Back Home” by Andy Grammer.
