The Story County Freedom Flight has announced details for the fourth Annual Story County Freedom Run and Pancake Breakfast. The event will take place on Saturday, April 22, at Story County Medical Center, 640 S 19th St., Nevada. Included in the day’s events are a 5K race, a one-mile walk, a children’s fun run and a pancake breakfast. All money raised will fund a trip for Story County veterans to the Middle East Conflicts Memorial Wall in Marseilles, Ill.

“We have been thrilled with the support the community has shown for this event the past three years,” said Freedom Run Director Brett Barker. “We are looking forward to being able to help send our Story County veterans to the Middle East Conflicts Memorial with the funds raised from this year’s event.”

Story County Freedom Flight honors Story County veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and Desert Storm for their sacrifices by sending them to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials from their respective wars. The organization is in its sixth year of operation, and was awarded the Governor’s Volunteer Recognition Award by Gov. Terry Branstad in 2013 for its efforts.
