City Administrator, Matt Mardesen, spoke at our Senior Potluck recently. He informed our group about many happenings around Nevada including the frustrating hold up with the Airport Road intersection project and the possible expansion of Burke Marketing. Since the Sixth Street project is a concern to everyone, he told us about plans that are being discussed to help keep main street stores open for business during the project. Matt told us that the sharing of an Economic Development Director with Ames has already proven helpful for the expansion plans of Burke Marketing. Thanks to Matt for also taking time to answer “follow-up” questions from the group.
As we have done for the past five years, Nucara employees will be at our October potluck to give flu shots. I am letting you know now so you don’t need to be concerned about when or where you will get your shot this year. Our program speaker that day will also be pharmacist, Nick Dahlke, from Nucara. Since several people have discussed with me whether to get the new shingles vaccination, I asked Nick to give us the pros and cons on that, as well as what our cost would be.
We are still having a card tournament “of sorts” on the last Friday of the month at 1 o’clock so if you enjoy playing 500, please join us.
