I hope you have all survived the heat and “inches” of rain without too much damage. As I’m writing this I heard that we may be in the path to get it again tonight.

I want to remind you about a couple community events coming up next week. The Historical Society is sponsoring “music on the lawn” at Evergreen Lane next Sunday, the 24th from 2-4. I understand that the home and carriage house will also be open for tours.

On Wednesday, the 27th at 5:30, author Linda McCann will be presenting a program at the library about the Conservation Corps. She has written several books and is a very interesting speaker, so you may want to put that on your calendar.

Don’t forget about the community band concerts on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at the city hall pavilion.

Thanks to Marlys Barker for the article in last week’s Journal about the school preparing our congregate meals. We are a very small part of that food service program. There was one clarification needing to be made about the amount of people who use our Center. It should have said about 300 people in a month, not in a week, as was stated. I guess if we counted all of the people who rent our building on weekends it would probably be 300 in a week.

Ladies, don’t forget that we are now having an afternoon coffee time on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Mondays at 2 p.m.

We are going to try to get a group together on Friday, the 29th at 1 p.m., to play Hearts. If you enjoy cards we will plan to see you.
