Our potluck day is a little later in the month this time, on the 14th at 11:30. We usually try to start through the serving line at 11:30 so we are finished eating by about 12:20. For our program this month Chris Martin, Vonnie’s son, will be telling us about the Free Evening Meal program in Ames. This seven day per week program has been in existence for 14 years and has grown to include a free market pantry visit 3 days a week. The program is run by volunteers with entirely donated food. I will let Chris, the director, and Patty Yoder his assistant, tell you much more about the program next week.

Our movie day will be on Wednesday, the 16th at 1 p.m. I’m sure many of you heard about the heart -warming Christian movie “I Can Only Imagine,” which was just released in theaters in March. I didn’t think I would get a chance to show this movie until next fall but a friend called me to say that she had already gotten it from Amazon and would loan it to us for our movie day. “I Can Only Imagine” is a song written by a young man who was raised in a troubled home but was reconciled with his father before he died. He later wrote this song to honor his Dad. It was picked up by a publisher of Christian music and given to Amy Grant to sing. This one song is what ultimately made the vocal group “Mercy Me” famous. The movie cost 7 million to produce and quickly grossed 82 million in ticket sales. Please tell others who may not have had a chance to see this movie in the theater.

Our Hand and Foot card day will not be until Wednesday, the 23rd this month.
