We had an enjoyable week at the Center last week beginning with our potluck day on Monday. We shared in the celebration of Dick and Joan Couser’s 65th anniversary by signing their memory book and enjoying the special cheesecake dessert brought in by their family. Following lunch Bob Reid, who is a volunteer for the Puppy Jake Foundation, told us about the time and dedication needed to train a service dog for a wounded veteran. By the time the veteran receives the dog nearly $20,000 has been spent.
On Wednesday18 people came to the Center to watch the movie “Going in Style” If you didn’t see this movie last winter, when it was in theaters, you may want to rent it.
Our congregate meal count was down a little bit last week because of several other community dinners, but I’m sure they will be back this week. Our meals are now provided Tues.-Friday by the high school food service department, with each meal costing $4. (You can purchase a 4 punch ticket or a 16 punch ticket) We would welcome additional people to join the group but we do need to know a day ahead of time that you will be coming. The meal consists of an entrée, vegetable, salad, fruit and milk. The entrees that we have preselected for next week are: Friday, the 20th a spoonburger, Tues. chicken & noodles, Wed., chicken panini sandwich, Thur. a rib patty. There will not be a meal on the 27th because school is not in session. If a congregate meal would be helpful to you, just plan to arrive at the Center by 11:30 to join the group, but remember to call by 11:30, the day before you plan to eat, to reserve your meal 382-1380.
