Midwest Electric Railroad motorman and electric traction historian Wes Bender will present a free program called Midwest Iowa Trolleys Saturday, April 15, at 2 p,m, at the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center in Boone.


Fish Fry


The American Legion in Nevada invites the community to a Fish Fry this Friday, April 14. An alternate choice will be barbecued country ribs. Serving will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome - come support our veterans!


The Secrets of Ancestry.com


A Genealogy Plus! program, “The Secrets of Ancestry.com”, is planned for Wednesday April 19, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave., and is free and open to the public. Ancestry.com is an enormous, ever expanding, resource for genealogists at all skill levels. There are many features in Ancestry that will expand the possibilities of your research. Richard Wolfe is our Genealogy Plus! guest speaker in April, and will guide us through both the strengths and some weaknesses of Ancestry. He will delve into Ancestry’s hidden features and how to use them. Ways to use Ancestry.com products as educational tools for further research and record keeping will also be covered.
