Nevada Iowa Journal

About Us

The Nevada Journal, which serves Nevada and eastern Story County, is a publication of Stephens Media Iowa.

Our Mission

Our goal is to deliver a newspaper that is informative, interesting and full of the kinds of information you need to live a fuller life in the Nevada area. We are committed to accuracy and honesty in our reporting practices. We are always happy to hear of news and story ideas in our coverage area.
The Nevada Journal is published, generally, every Thursday of the year, and includes local news, as well as high school sports coverage of the Nevada and Colo-Nesco School Districts.

A Little History

The Nevada Journal, originally known as the Nevada Evening Journal, was founded by G.A. and O.J. Benjamin – the Benjamin Brothers – in 1895. It went from being a daily newspaper to a weekly newspaper in 1988, when it was purchased by Partnership Press of Ames. It was purchased by the Omaha World Herald in October of 1999 and they sold it to Stephens Media Group, based in Las Vegas, Nev., in 2010.
